second-most-frequent title given to Jesus is “Lord,” and this title is at the heart of the earliest Christian creed: “Jesus is Lord.” The next-most-used title, far behind “Christ” and “Lord” in terms of its frequency of appearance in the New Testament, is “Son of Man.” This title is used roughly eighty times in the New Testament, but even though it comes in third in usage by those who wrote about Jesus, it was far and away Jesus’ favorite self-designation. If we were to ask Jesus, “Who are you?”
